General Meetings
The Society's regular monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Forster Park Hall, on the corner of Abernethy
Road and Keane Street, Belmont. Meetings begin at 8pm. Visitors are cordially invited to attend and check us out.
These is no January meeting.
Each meeting features a guest speaker/s talking about their area of avian expertise. Occasionally
there is a video/DVD shoen and biannually a forum is held where members can discuss the hot topics of the season. There are
monthly raffles and a door prize at these meetings. Tea, coffee and a light supper are available at the conclusion of formalities.
Supper is generally a time for fellow members to get together and discuss the latest news in the avicultural world and to swap stories
and ideas. General Meetings are also a great opportunity to get any questions you have answered.
Open Days
Open Days are held on the last Sunday of each month, except in December when there is no Open Day. Here members and visitors
can come to get amongst the birds for sale, have a morning tea, barbecue lunch or pick up a library book. Society members are
invited to bring along their birds for sale. Prices are very reasonable and birds are available to be purchased by the general
public as well as fellow members. Birds can be booked in for sale from 9am. Sales commence at 10am. It is also a
chance to get to speak to the breeder of the birds first hand and find out all you need to know. Our kitchen is open with coffee,
tea, soft drink and light snacks on offer and at lunch a sausage sizzle is available fresh off the barbecue.
It's not just birds
for sale either. At both General Meetings and Open Days a great selection of bird-related products are on offer including nest
boxes of all sizes, breeding cabinets, carry cages, wire cage fronts, feeding vessels, mealworms, nesting material, magazines, leg
rinds and nets. These can also be ordered from our Accessories Steward for delivery at General Meetings.
